  1. Boston College Eagles Football team was the first college football team to play the sport under a set of written rules. This happened in a game against Tufts University in 1874.
  2. The Eagles had a remarkable undefeated season in 1940, finishing with a record of 11-0 and winning the Sugar Bowl. This remains their only undefeated season in program history.
  3. In 1984, Boston College quarterback Doug Flutie made one of the most iconic plays in college football history known as the "Hail Flutie." He threw a last-second, 48-yard touchdown pass to Gerard Phelan to defeat the University of Miami, leading to a Heisman Trophy win for Flutie.
  4. From 1999 to 2003, Boston College had a streak of 12 consecutive seasons with a bowl game appearance, which is the longest streak in program history.
  5. Boston College's running back, Andre Williams, had a standout season in 2013. He rushed for 2,177 yards, becoming the first running back in ACC history to surpass the 2,000-yard mark in a single season.
